Installation Achieved Ahead of FAA’s Broadcast ID Mandate
The City of El Paso is the first city in the United States to implement a fully networked remote identification (Remote ID) system to detect drones flying within and beyond 500 square miles of the airspace from the El Paso International Airport.
The groundbreaking achievement will serve as a model for other cities across the nation and will provide enhanced public safety, support for commercial drone operations, and privacy protection for drone pilots. Implementation of the system comes months ahead of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mandate requiring broadcast Remote ID by September 16, 2023.
